Redeeming Love- Michael Hosea

I've been debating for a while whether or not to post this, because I'm just not sure how many of you have read it. In the end, I'm posting it anyway. Michael Hosea definitely qualifies as a bangin' hot book boy.. er.. man.

This book is my favorite for so many reasons, and Michael is #1 on that list. What can possibly be more of a turn on than someone as religious, loving, forgiving... and manly?

Now, I'm trying to condense this almost 500 page story into much less, so bear with me. I'll get to the reasons for his bangin' hotness.

Major Spoilers!

Michael goes into town one day to sell his goods to an old friend Joseph.. not expecting to come across the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. Definitely not expecting for God to tell him this is the woman he's to marry. Joseph and Michael begin to talk a little about this woman, Angel, when Joseph tells Michael she's a prostitute and works at a brothel.

Discouraged, but still heeding God's word, Michael spends all the gold he just made, to see Angel. But he doesn't go see her to.. 'get in her dress'. He wants to talk with her. He proposes all his ideas, and spends several nights visiting her. But Angel won't budge. She's fallen for the tricks of men before and is determined not to let it happen again.

After leaving, Michael feels God is calling him back to Pair-A-Dice to get Angel. He goes back, and Angel has been beaten horribly by a man named Magowan. Michael then asks Angel to marry him, puts his mother's ring on her finger, and they return to his cabin in the woods.

It takes some time for Angel to heal, but when she does, she's only thinking about going back to Pair-A-Dice. She tries once, but doesn't make it more than a mile without getting lost. Michael goes to find her, brings her back. He's angry, but forgives.

Then, Michael's brother comes back. Paul hates Angel.. so doesn't object when she asks to hitch a ride back to town. But he makes her pay, and he makes her pay the only way she knows how. With herself. Back in Pair-A-Dice she finds there is not much left. She goes back into prostitution, but it's not long before Michael comes back to get her. Furious, but forgiving. He figures out on his own, what happened between her and his brother.

Michael continues to do nothing but love her. That doesn't stop Angel from running again.

She doesn't go back into prostitution this time, but Michael still comes to get her. He still forgives her. He still loves her.

That doesn't stop Angel from running again. This time, Michael doesn't go get her. Angel runs into a lot of troubles in San Francisco, but ultimately finds a calling in life. After quite some time, Paul figures out that the only way to make Michael happy again, is to go find Angel himself. He still hates her, still thinks she's good for nothing, but goes anyway. He then finds out he's been wrong about her, always, and asks her to come back. She does.

And Michael forgives her again. And still loves her with everything he's got.

End.

Can you see why Michael is such a bangin' hot man?

1. Religious. He listens to and obeys God. Even when he doesn't want to.

2. Forgives. How many men would forgive their wife for sleeping with their brother? And other men they don't know? For running away countless times? But he does.. over and over. Because God tells him to.

3. Romantic. He sits with Angel and talks to her about everything he can give her. He tells her how much he loves her, and how she is deserving of love. He does everything he can to make her believe that not matter what happened in her past, she is deserving of his love. She is deserving of God's love.

4. Manly! He didn't sweet talk his way into getting Angel back when she runs away the second time. He kicks some butt. He spends his days doing manly things like farming, and stuff. It's pretty hot to me, that this man can be so sensitive, but you can always know he'd be able to protect you.

5. Lastly, heart. He has heart. He has love. He has love enough to forgive everyone who has wronged him, and not think twice about it. He has no problem sharing his home with strangers, sharing his food. Sharing his land.

This man is just amazing to me. When I read the book for the first time, all I could think was.. "Does this kind of man even EXIST?!" He's just that perfect to me. Imagine having a man so in love with you.. that he'd do absolutely anything for you. Sleep in a chair for weeks so you can have the bed to yourself. Constantly come to your aid. Be a rock, someone you can depend on. Always be whispering encouragement in your ears.

Swoon.

AMEN!

This book seriously changed my life. This book had the Twilight-hysteria level with girs at my school before twilight was even in the picture! I'm still holding out for Michael--he is the best.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. And a true bangin' hot man. No lie. I said 'man'. He is a man of God and to me personally that makes him better than any sparkly vampire or hilarious wizard or any other fictional character I have come across. I truly believe that I will find my own Michael :)

Great post!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! He is absolutley amazing. That man is wonderful! He is ridiculously many in the sense of his farming and the beautiful descriptions of his body..but, man, the fact that he is SO Godly makes it unbelievable! Ah! If only that type of man will one day come along for me too!
Great description and post :)

I'm so glad you did a post on Michael Hosea, Kellie!

I read Redeeming Love about a month ago, and like Marci said, it changed my life. I've been a Christian for 17 years, and have just now realized, through this book, how much I am loved. I've used the love and forgiveness Michael Hosea had for Angel in my own life, with my best friend who just told me he was attracted to other men.

Anyways, back to the whole why-he-makes-me-swoon part. Hosea is definitely one of the best male characters ever. He abstains from his husbandly "rights" until he knows for sure she loves him. The fact that he listens to the Lord is amazing. So many people, myself included, are soooooo stubborn. I love that he calls Angel by other names depending on her mood. I love that he is selfless to give up his home for another family in need. And the fact that he's easy on the eyes doesn't hurt at all!

I you love love, read this book! I'll even let you borrow my copy!

I married my own 'Michael' in a way though I was not a prostitute, I had a very, very checkered past that left me so scarred and ill and abused. He married me anyway and we're three years in good standing so far. We've been raising my granddaughter and are adopting her this year. God led us to each other and keeps us together.
WAIT for your HOSEA ladies.
Redeeming Love is the best Christian fictional book I've ever read. I cried through it and read it all in one day without getting up. I bought it online so my husband can hear it. It's so like him.
Be so very blessed,
